The two sisters Mancy and Ruth had already opened their fashion design company called Maru Creations when they joined Ofentse and Kelebogile at Rich Lebethe’s catering company.
Maru Creations was established in 2020, it is based in Morula View, phase 5 in Mabopane, Pretoria.
The name Maru Creations comes from both founders names, Ma-Mancy and Ru- Ruth.
Both Mancy and Ruth do not have qualifications in fashion design but they have their God given talents. Mancy mentioned that she grew up watching her grandmother and her mom sewing in the house and her sister Ruth learned from her, I guess fashion is in their genes, it runs in the family.
SHORT-TERM GOALS: to buy a Wendy house and ikhokha machine. Both goals were met.
LONG-TERM GOALS: to have a big studio, buy a bakkie for deliveries and rendering classes to teach the young how to make beautiful garments and design. This is giving back to the community.
CHALLENGES: because of personal reasons the sisters could not showcase their talent and creations at a fashion show early in the year, but they attended the show to support others and see what to expect in the next show.
Mr Sethole ( Mancy’s husband) plays an important role in Maru Creations. He is the pillar of strength and he supports them all the time, not forgetting Mr Mudau their mentor, he is the motivator and makes sure that targets are met.
“Attending markets & fashion shows really helped us a lot, we learned, networked and socialised with the people of the industry” says Ruth.
Maru Creations specialises in traditional clothes, casual, formal, amending clothes, bowties, ties, lapel pins, pockets square for both males and females and lastly wedding gowns. “We produce exactly what our clients requires” says the ladies.
