Gospel artist, Motshidisi Monareng, encountered numerous obstacles in her music journey despite facing discouragement from people who doubted her calling to sing. She persevered through rejection and criticism, with many claiming that the stage was not meant for her. However, she found inspiration in the works of renowned artists such as Hlengiwe Mhlaba, Joyous Celebration, and Bishop Benjamin Dube.
In 2009, she recorded her debut album, ‘Ke Morena Jeso’, consisting of 14 tracks. Unfortunately, in 2017, Tshidi faced a challenging period when her attempts at a live recording were plagued by setbacks, leading to a period of depression. The passing of her mother further compounded her struggles, but she found comfort in prayer and the unwavering love of God.
Driven by a deep-seated desire to mend broken hearts and instill hope in the desolate, Tshidi emphasized the importance of remaining steadfast in the face of external pressures such as challenging circumstances, surroundings, and financial temptations. She advised her fellow gospel artists to steer clear of pitfalls like indulging in entertainment, alcohol, and drugs, emphasizing the significance of being positive role models within the community.
Despite the adversities, Tshidi remains resolute in her musical pursuits and has continued to release singles like ‘Ngilinde’ while actively working on a new album. Apart from her musical endeavors, she also wears the hats of a businesswoman and a Setswana News presenter at Moutse Community Radio Station in Limpopo. Her dedication to her craft and her commitment to spreading messages of faith and positivity serve as a beacon of inspiration for many.
