Malome Vector’s memorial service will be held on Thursday, followed by his funeral on Saturday
Bokang Moleli, a Lesotho-born artist who had built most of his career in South Africa, is set to be laid to rest on Saturday in his hometown, Maseru, in Lesotho. The artist, famously known as Malome Vector, died on 24 July in a car accident in Free State while he was travelling to Lesotho.
Malome Vector was with four other people, including his artist Lizwi Wokuqala and videographer Damos, who were buried last week. Another artist, Puleng Phoofolo, sustained head injuries and is recovering at home. Their driver was also hospitalised following the accident.

The Dumelang hitmaker’s remains arrived in Lesotho on Friday, 26 July, and his funeral service will be held at Roma Christ The King High School football ground in Maseru on Saturday. His memorial service will be on Thursday at Lehakoe Recreational Centre in Maseru.
In March this year, the artist hosted his homecoming event in Lesotho. It was his first since he got a breakthrough in Mzansi in 2020.
His friend and former publicist Thando Galebodiwe said working with Malome Vector was a breath of fresh air, adding that he made it easy.
“I cannot believe I am speaking of Malome Vector in the past. It feels surreal to imagine we won’t see such an amazing artist and person anymore. Vector was passionate about his craft, music was his second love after his daughter. My deepest condolences to the Moleli family, his daughter, friends and colleagues. May his soul rest in peace,” she commented.
Fellow artist and friend, Lindokuhle Msomi known as Intaba Yase Dubai said he was not sure if he would make it to his friend’s funeral.
My heart is really broken. Malome Vector’s death came at a time when I don’t even have R2 in my pockets. I am not even sure if I will make it to his funeral the way things are so bad. He was my last hope…I no longer have a brother anymore. I might as well lose hope in music. We really had big plans. We were still planning to record an album and shoot music videos…he was so in love with my concepts.
Msomi added that the Lerato singer taught him to go after the things he wanted in life, and that the late artist would always be there when Msomi needed him.
“I’m sure I would have died of depression if it wasn’t for that man who gave me courage even when I was away from him. He believed in me and my music so much that it made me wonder if he understood the lyrics. He was my blood brother in the music industry. It is still hard for me to believe that he is gone…no one will call me every day to give me ideas and talk about the future of the companies that we opened with the aim of taking over the music industry. I don’t know Sesotho, but we got along with Vector and sometimes, it was difficult to understand when he spoke,” he said.
Music producer Ronny Sithole known as Trayce SA said he found it to believe that Malome Vector and Lizwi Wokuqala were gone, and he never guessed that he’d lose them the way they died. He conveyed his condolences to both the families.
