HIV activist Kagiso Rahlogo shares her inspiring journey.

kagiso Rahlogo, also known as Rahlogo Rahlogo on Facebook, is a determined superwoman, a mother of one, and a wife. She is a model, actor, and has been a semifinalist in various beauty pageants such as Mrs South Africa, Mrs Universe Africa, Mrs Tshwane, and Mrs Globe South Africa. Despite facing challenges, including testing HIV-positive at the age of 20, she has shown resilience and strength.
Her journey with HIV began when she was infected by her first boyfriend on her birthday. Initially in disbelief, she eventually accepted her diagnosis after multiple tests confirmed it. This led to feelings of shame, fear, and isolation, causing her to struggle mentally for a period of time. However, with the help of compassionate doctors like Dr. Doti and Dr. Snyman, she was able to receive counseling and education about HIV/AIDS.
As her health deteriorated, she faced stigma and discrimination even from her own family members. She experienced drastic weight loss, loss of mobility, and had to be hospitalized in a coma for two months. During this time, she had a powerful spiritual experience where her late grandmother encouraged her to continue fighting and educating others about HIV/AIDS.
After coming out of the coma, kagiso Rahlogo made a conscious decision to prioritize her health by exercising, eating well, and adhering to her medication regimen. Through her perseverance, her CD4 count increased significantly, and her viral load became undetectable. She now leads a fulfilling life with her daughter, Princess Regomoditswe, and her supportive husband.
